Harrison was looking for a nameplate for his Burien, Washington sculpture, (commemorating the indigenous people of the area), as beautiful as his art. His concept - engrave artwork onto a 1/4” thick polished copper plate. Harrison’s iconic sun compass symbol pays homage to the art of the Duwamish People and the highly polished surface of the plate reflects the surrounding environment in the same way as The People did.
